Are You Pragmatic or Idealistic?

Ah to be young and idealistic – with the whole world in front of you and nothing holding you back

Or to be older and more pragmatic- with knowledge of how the world works and bills to pay

Are you pragmatic or idealistic? How do you find balance between the two to live your best life?

Pragmatism is being realistic and doing what needs to be done. This includes working, paying the bills, and taking care of chores

Pragmatism

Idealism is being a dreamer and doing whatever you want, assuming things will just work out the way you want them to.

Idealism

Being pragmatic all the time is boring, but being too idealistic carries a large amount of risk. It's better to balance the two for a healthy, fulfilling life.

Balance

The truth is I want to be idealistic. I want to hike mountains, ride my bike through deserted highways, live each day to the fullest. But I can’t do those things because I’m too pragmatic.  my dream life, I know it’s a bad idea.

The call to idealism

I value my own financial stability and I feel a sense of responsibility towards my work and my word. As much as I want to quit everything and start living, it's safer to wait and plan

Pragmatism is Safer

The best way to find balance is to plan for it. Include a little idealism in your pragmatic plans. Save enough money so that you don't have to worry if your idealistic journey fails
