What Colors Make Orange?

Color Theory Made Easy

Color theory is about mixing the exact right color to get the affect you desire

It's easy to say that Red and Yellow Make Orange

But how do you get all the marvelous Shades?

This is what color theory is all about

Look at the color wheel. What color is opposite orange on the wheel?

Blue and Orange are on opposite sides of the wheel

Blue!

To get various shades of orange, you need to add blue

Blue neutralizes the orange, and the more you add, the closer to grey (neutral) the orange will become.

What if I want a lighter, Brighter orange?

To get lighter shades or orange, and to get closer to a peach color, you will need to add white. It lightens the color

Pro Tip:

ADDING BLACK RARELY DOES ANYTHING EXCEPT MAKE THINGS BLACK. IF YOU ONLY ADD A DROP, IT MAY DARKEN A LITTLE, BUT FOR DARKER SHADES, ADDING BLUE IS IDEAL

For Different shades:

Perfect Orange

A perfect orange will have equal parts red and yellow

Yellow orange

For a brighter, yellower orange, add more yellow

Red Orange

For a deeper, redder orange, add more red
