Like Family
We love our families, but we shouldn’t love our families.
One woman didn’t really get that memo. A man shared that he was a little creeped out that his date kept mentioning her brother.
Although it started innocently enough with her sharing that they’d get along, it got weirder as the night progressed. She said he reminded her of her brother, which should have raised eyebrows the first time.
He finally had enough when she whispered it right as they were getting intimate.
Um, what…?
Hair Obsession
Walking dates allow us to meet someone in a non-committal way.
One woman used that to her advantage when she escaped a date who insisted on braiding her hair – to the point of reaching for her head without consent.
Please don’t try to touch people who don’t want to be touched. It’s a good rule in life and in dating.
Restraining Order
One woman’s date nonchalantly shared that he had not one, but TWO restraining orders against him.
And the worst part? Guess who filed them. Yep, former girlfriends.
I guess I appreciate the honesty, but I wouldn’t want to be the third. Neither did she, as she did not agree to a second date.
Pay My Fines
The audacity of some people.
One man asked his date to pay his court fees, then threatened to embarrass her if she left the restaurant. Was he looking for a romantic connection, or was the date just a pretense to rob her?
We’ll never know because she snuck out and ran away.
Double Booking
It’s just bad form to book two dates in one night, but one woman did just that and dared to have her first date drop her off to her second date.
But that’s not even the worst part. The second date was actually with her long-term boyfriend.
I can’t help but wonder if the couple enjoyed stuff like this – but please don’t bring a third party into your relationship without consent.
Showing What They Can Do
One woman left terrified after a potential romantic encounter turned terrifying.
She accompanied her date back to his apartment, but once he got her there, he turned into a monster.
“He pinned me down on his bed and told me he could do anything he wanted to me,” she said.
She thankfully got away.
Bringing Props to a First Date
One man thought bringing a bag full of tacky lingerie and bedroom toys to a casual coffee shop first date would be appropriate.
“I handed him back the bag and walked out without a word,” the user shared.
Asking for Permission To Speak
The 1800s called; they want this guy’s values back. One woman said a date wanted her to raise her hand to request permission to speak.
When she obviously laughed in his face, he burst into a fit of rage, screaming at her for daring to “interrupt” him.
Honestly, we’d rather they wave these giant dating red flags as early as possible.
Disgusting Apartment
Most people tidy up if they expect company, but some men feel that housework is beneath them, even if they live alone.
One woman was appalled to discover her date’s living conditions the first time she visited his home.
“Clothes and empty delivery containers everywhere. NO SHEETS on his bed. What looked like black mold on the shower wall. A toilet that had never been cleaned. This man was 35 and had a roommate,” she said.
If he’s comfortable living in squalor, you can better believe you will be doing everything if the relationship gets serious.
The Unwilling Accomplice
One man picked up his date, ready for a wonderful night of getting to know you, when she asked to make a short pit stop. He agreed, and only his quick thinking saved him from becoming an accomplice in a horrifying crime.
“She went inside. 5 minutes later, she comes out hustling towards the car with a car seat, and her mom chasing after her, yelling. She opens the car door and throws the car seat (which I now see has a baby in it), and starts yelling at me to drive. I freaked and just turned my car off and took the keys out of the ignition,” shared the user.
It turned out that she lost custody and was attempting to get her child back. After answering all the police’s questions, he left and never called her again.
The Dirty Pocket Knife
Some folks are oblivious to their awful ways. One woman said her date’s pocketknife usage completely turned her off.
“He used his pocketknife to cut me a slice of cake and later scraped some dirt clumps off of his shoe with the same knife. I asked him if he ever cleaned his knife, and he replied, “No, why?” she reported.
I love this example because although it’s very specific, it can apply to a wide range of situations. If he doesn’t even think to clean his knife, what else isn’t he cleaning?
You’ll Eat What I Like
Dinner dates are great ways to get to know each other. You learn a little about their likes and dislikes and whether he’s a controlling turd who needs to police what women order.
One woman refused a second date because, on their first date, her gentleman caller attempted to change her order with the waitress after she ordered what she wanted.
When the Boyfriend Comes Home
People typically date to determine whether they want to start a long-term relationship, but some enjoy meeting new people behind their current partner’s back.
One man’s date turned disastrous after her boyfriend showed up unexpectedly.
“He and I had a super awkward conversation for a few minutes, then the two of them disappeared into another room for a minute or two. She came back and said something to the effect of, “I don’t have a place for you. I’m sorry.”
It seems like the date ended in the best possible way given the circumstances.

Some folks are so horrifically wrapped up in themselves that they don’t even realize their behavior is insane.
One woman smartly asked a follow-up question when her date said he’d still be married if his ex had only apologized. “Out of curiosity, I asked what she did wrong?” reported the user.
The man admitted an unremorseful history of abuse with his response.
“Apparently, she kept nagging one day and wouldn’t shut up, so he tied her to a computer chair and went out for three hours and left her there,” she said, adding, “I said it doesn’t sound like she was the one who needed to apologize and left.”
He Took “It” Out
We all hope dates lead to romance and intimacy, but some creepy pervs push the boundaries.
One woman said her date took “it” out and asked her to look under the table. She did and walked out upon seeing the horrific truth about what taking “it” out meant.
A Literal Predator
One woman ran without looking back when her date casually told her he was a child predator who took advantage of his 14-year-old cousin when he was 21.
Of course, he saw nothing wrong with his behavior and said it was the child’s fault.
Eyeing the Waiter
One man said he ended the evening early because his date only had eyes for the waiter.
“I’m a guy and can admit this guy was probably totally hot for anyone who prefers men. Square-jawed and muscled college athlete type. I get it,” he admitted, adding that he gave her the money for his meal and told her to ask the waiter out.
Planning Our Whole Future
A first date isn’t the appropriate time to pick out China patterns and children’s names. One man was justifiably scared when his date decided they would be together forever.
“She was talking about how we are going to have kids together and how we were going to go on trips with my brother and his wife,” he shared, adding that it was only the first date.
Seething Hatred
Far too many women in the thread shared stories of dates who clearly dislike women. Some called every woman in their life horrific names, while others casually announced that they think women are stupid. It’s just one small example of how sexism still runs rampant in our lives.
We’ll never understand why some men hate women yet desperately crave their attention.

We can’t help but notice the massive disparity between men’s and women’s first date stories. The guy’s bad first dates mostly revolved around cheaters, with a sprinkle of weird obsession thrown in for good measure.
But the women’s stories are downright terrifying. In some cases, they’re practically running for their lives. And it’s not just a handful. Thousands of similar stories come from women across the country.
